A virtual screen is only as sharp as the pixels that fit into each degree of your view. About 60 pixels per degree matches 20/20 vision.
Make the floating screen wider and this page grows more columns, the way a desk with two monitors would. Make it closer and everything gets bigger without getting sharper.
